I'm asking the guys on top for some tips.
You look like you've already got it good! Of course... GIANTS OF DRAWCEPTION, TEACH US YOUR WAYS.
Practice makes perfect. That's why they are so good.
Except for Ackter. He's just an awesome man who puts extra effort in his drawings.
He also made some little tutorials: http://ackter.geekngamer.com/category/3-how-to/
And he ( http://www.youtube.com/user/Ackterband ), as well as Kagura ( http://www.youtube.com/user/KaguraBeatBox ) and Corvax ( http://www.youtube.com/user/CorvaxDraws ), sometimes record their drawings.
I hope this post is helpful to you, even though you're a good artist already. ;)
Yeah, I should not in any way be associated with the top artists.
There's people on here who are outstanding. If there's anything I'm good at is making very simple but acceptable cartoony drawings.
I'm only where I am on the leaderboards due to the sheer number of games I play.
Don't make yourself smaller than you are, Ackter. I, for one, genuinely like most of your drawings. :) Just look at that metroid you made. It's one of the best panels I've ever seen on Drawception.
I think I read somewhere that you didn't draw much before joining DC. If that's true, your drawings are even more impressive.
Sorry if your ass got sore from all that kssing...
I used to draw with a pencil and paper when I was maybe 6 or 7. Me and my cousin used to draw stuff.
I technically did Art and Design at college, but I did all of my coursework based on photography and minimalism (because I couldn't actually draw). I ended up doing nothing for the first year and half, then scribbling like hell in a book for the last 3 weeks in order to get the work handed in on time. This was my project for it:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/253_45463450267_6067_n.jpg
I've done a few drawings in the past, but it equates to about 5 drawings every few years, basically. Which got stuff like this:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/253_45463445267_5647_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/25472_10150160205390268_4087147_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/253_45464200267_9359_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/33475_10150290030155268_7635260_n.jpg
Those are 5 of the maybe 20 or so drawings I've done in the last 10/12 years?
So while it's incorrect to say I had no experience, I don't really have much, and had no experience of drawing on PC except to make stupid MSPaint drawings of people I worked with when I was bored at work:

Oh, and, erm ,thanks.
Like LS said, practice practice. You're already pretty good Bryan. You can only get better. I know Cody, LS, and Acter have improved, seeing their art over the past couple of months. Looking at my early games, I've gotten better since I first started. Unfortunately, my OCD-like perfectionism still hasn't been fixed and has in fact, probably gotten worse what with the small brush and zoom. It's the one of the main reasons I don't color cuz when I do try, I will 99.9% run out of time because something just 'didn't look right' to me. Even still, I've lost many an uncolored drawing due to OCD tendencies and time running out. And similar to what Acter said, compared to many other artists on here, I don't think I'm up to par. Their senses of color, line, composition, etc. are incredibly impressive. I also just played/play a lot :P I am glad though that people enjoy my pics. That does however, put pressure on me to draw as best as I can though for the possible approval (or disapproval) of people I don't even know XD In terms of actually drawing, I like to put a spin on things; whether it be drawing characters realistically, in a different style, or trying to make mashups. Other than that, I draw with a tablet where the points on it match with my screen so it feels like drawing on paper which is my preferred medium. Find what feels comfortable for you so you get the most out of your time. My 'sketchy' look comes from years of doodling. I also draw influences from manga artist Takehiko Inoue. If you haven't read it, I would suggest checking out his series 'Vagabond'. I've posted variations of this before so sorry y'all if you've heard it before but hopefully it answers some questions/satiates your curiosity :3
POW! Tons of great advice form great players. Thank you for your contributions to this thread.
I haven't drawn in a while, but I doodled this last week after watching some Pirates of the Caribbean! My drawception drawings are just soo poor. haha

Nah, Nyancatimus, you have no reason to bash yourself. Your art is incredibly polished, your shading style is sexy and you can draw a lot of situations in a lot of different ways. You're placed second for a reason.
Drawing is one of those skills that literally everyone can get better at. Just do a lot of quick drawings and you will improve. My biggest problem years ago was taking days on 1 drawing that never stood a chance to begin with. Then I'd get frustrated and quit.
Drawsomething and 'Ception have advanced my abilities more than I could have imagined. Like Ackter I drew a little bit 10 years ago but nothing serious. The format of rapid fire drawings where you cant dote and edit them to death has been pretty remarkable, and I'm actually starting to draw for the first time in a LONG time on real paper.
I cant recommend this site enough, it will flash random poses for 30 / 60 or 90 seconds. You can get a couple dozen drawings in so fast, and you can see them getting better day after day. And I like that I can go back to the ones that I like and fill them out with details.

Disclaimer: not a top drawer, but one of the more improved? Also I like to think I show that people can still do cool stuff with a mouse.
What are you talking about? KxRook is all time #7 top player! http://drawception.com/leaderboard/
I'm nowhere near the top, but this game is helping me tremendously with my drawing skills. I tend to get bogged down in the little details and never finish anything, or be too much of a perfectionist about it. Being forced to finish a drawing in 10 minutes has pushed me to really break down the process of drawing and it's helping me learn what's actually necessary for a drawing to be understandable... and as I get faster, I can add in more little details, shading, whatever. Hopefully eventually I'll be able to whip out a miniature masterpiece in 10 minutes like a lot of the other artists here...
I like drawception however I have the problem of art. I can't seem to get a style even though I'm desperate for one at this point. If anyone has any suggestions of drawing styles I could try out then that would be appreciated.
Yeah, I slightly envy those with an identifiable style. I keep hoping that if I use google images less often then one might emerge. One thing I'm trying, to get more impact out of drawings, is to try and 'crop' the images more, so that figures and objects are cut off by the frame rather than all neatly centred. I'm hoping it will make my frames less static too. *insert mandatory 'not claiming to be a top artist' statement.
I dislike what appears to be my identifiable style, and I keep trying to find ways to change it.
@Ackter There was a game the other day; the BTTF one?I initially thought I recognised the 2nd panel as your style, but it wasn't. Then I saw panel 4 and thought 'how funny, I should have though the other one was Akter and here he is after all'. Of course, you were further down the game in monochrome!
This one: http://drawception.com/viewgame/etYqnX6hjc/back-to-the-future/
The fourth panel is very similar to the style I usually fall into when drawing. This was the first mono panel I did and it's far too simple. I should have added something else in the frame because it looks so empty.
This is the style I'm going to try for a little bit, to see how it develops:
