I was drawing a Waldo panel (nothing strange there), but when it came time to add a pineapple in the background (again, nothing strange there) I was a little bit shot for time.
I made horizontal green and light green lines (he's supposed to be camouflaged in a way like Waldo), but when I noticed that this made it no longer look like a pineapple, I selected YELLOW and started to draw the vertical lines for crosshatching. Low and behold, when the yellow went over DARK GREEN the color changed to a lighter yellow. As the line progressed over the other colors, it kept the usual yellowness to it.
I know that it's pretty hard to see now.. I kept drawing. But still, this really happened. Is it a bug?
D'oh!

Probably an optical illusion caused by the play of colours together like that (you can easily fool the human mind with combinations of colours) and the painting canvas bring slightly bigger than the final picture.
Here we go:

Wow, you are completely correct. I had considered that earlier, but it was so drastic a change that I couldn't believe it. I just blew it up in Photoshop and.. yep, same color. It really blends differently with the light green behind it.
That said, as soon as you take it back to the original size, it screws with our eyes again. I also never knew that the drawing canvas was a different size than the final one. That probably should change, or at least we should be able to view either
I think the idea is that you get to draw in just a larger enough canvas to give you some more leeway doing detail work, and then it's shrunk to be a manageable size on the site. Most of the time, it works out in my favor because it looks stuff look nicer.
Wait a sec, the canvas is larger than the final frame? The final frame is 300x250... what is the canvas?
I'll have to check next time I draw. But you haven't noticed that it gets shrunk just a tiny bit?
Go to the sandbox and try it out there, it's quite a difference.
Sandbox starts out as an even better size though, and the end product is still larger than the game panels.
