I recently came upon a funny description, something like, 'lip bizket's insperation 4 nooki haha.' I thought this was a marvelous opportunity to turn such a crass description into something artful, so I drew this painting by the realist painter Gustave Courbet entitled 'Origine du Monde' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Origin-of-the-World.jpg. When I returned to check the status of this game I found my painting had been flagged and deleted. Is this 'ok?' Are the users of drawception 'capable' of 'recognizing' 'art qua art?' Or is it 'necessary' to 'create a prescriptive criteria' by which 'all art' [via this website] would be 'subject?' Is 'realist art' 'pornographic?' Are 'the French' truly 'unAmerican?' Has 'the vagina' been 'fetishized' by 'patriarchy not as a concept, but as an actualizing force' which holds a 'hegemony' over the 'intrinsic aesthetic quality' of 'the vagina,' resulting in [the vagina] being deemed 'pornographic' in any of its 'manifestations?' Are the 'broader implications' of this 'censorship,' 'expressed' via the 'actions' of this website's 'community' due to 'a great fear' of 'sexuality expressed in any medium' 'engrained in our minds by said patriarchy?' help me please
also fuck jesus christ and capitalism. thank you 4 ur help
Hell's Horses!
Dunno about your questions, apart from the one about the French (of course they are un-American, they are also un-Japanese, un-Indonesian and un-Martian. They are french). Moving on... Is it 'possible' for you to 'express' yourself without 'putting' half of every 'sentence' inside "inverted' 'commas"? It makes it extremely difficult to know what you mean and it must be difficult to type while constantly making air-quotes. It is necessary to have prescriptive criteria if the game is to remain PG13 and SFW, as it's owner and creator desires. It's his game, if you wanna play you play by his rules. You want different rules? Find a game where they exist already or make your own game. For what Drawception players can or cannot recognise, that probably depends on both familiarity with the work and the quality of your rendering of it. I've reproduced, in my own way, the Mona Lisa in a game. People recognised my reference because it's a well known work, but in judging my rendering they were not judging the original. With a less known work the odds are they thought you were a dick that would take any excuse to draw a fanny. But you should look up a dictionary, you seem to think you have drawn a vagina, you haven't.
Also, you are acting as if GustavenCourbet played in this game, he didn't. When he created his work he knew that it would hang either in a private collection or a public gallery. He would never have imagined that it would be reproduced in ten minute s ribbles and the presented to. mass audience who have taken no active steps to choose to observe it. You cannot presume to know whether he would also have pressed the flag button on your use of his work.
Hey Moku, thank you for entering this dialogue; I hope other responses are as heartfelt as yours! I have one question though: why did you say 'But you should look up a dictionary, you seem to think you have drawn a vagina, you haven't.' This is the only part that 'truly' puzzles me. Are you referring to the same painting (which clearly depicts a nude woman and her vagina)?
Like I said, check a dictionary.
Ok, thanks, Moku!
As Moku said, this site is supposed to be PG-13, and safe for work/mixed company.
And I think what Moku meant by "you seem to think you have drawn a vagina, you haven't." is that... the vagina is the INTERNAL part of the female anatomy. The vulva is the external part, i.e. the part with pubic hair.
Thank you MelissaRocks! I meant 'vagina' as an 'encompassing term'/'thematic symbol.' 'Genitals' is a better word! Genitals. So is 'a realist depiction' of 'female genitals' 'pornography'? Or is a 'crude,' '10-minute reproduction' NSFW [via rules and guidelines of drawception]? Should we [as human beings] 'police' the internet via 'tenuous guidelines' established by the 'MPAA?' Are genitals NSFW?
You disgust me.
P!nk, that's not very nice :-(.
You can't justify what is effectively pornography by claiming it is art. And I'm pretty sure a lot of historic painters were perverts, and in a modern era would exist only on Rule 34 and 4chan deviant boards.
Great P!nk! You have 'directed' this topic into a 'new direction.' You have switched the 'focus' to 'what constitues art' vs 'what constitues pornography?' Is all 'art' depicting 'genitals' [via Courbet in this instance] 'pornography masquerading as art?' Why is depicting violence against women [via this top game http://drawception.com/viewgame/rWbSmf9wHe/mario-kos-peach-tired-of-saving-her/ ] considered 'applause worthy' and 'celebrated,' yet depicting 'female genitals' [via the drawing I made that was deleted] considered 'pornographic' and 'disapproved of'?
Also I'm pretty sure he's using constant quotes because he's trolling us, and the way he's phrasing himself... I think we should just ignore this topic with the statement keep the website PG-13.
I'm giving you a warning, Planet. You are a talented artist but please refrain from being erotic and skip+report distasteful panels.
Goodbye.
Why don't you link to your game so that we. an judge 'your' image, rather than Coubert's?
P!nk, I feel I am saying something substantive. I am sorry if my 'inverted commas' have led you to believe I was not being earnest.
Moku, if I could do that I would, but the drawing was deleted [via MPAA guidelines]. I think the 'quality of my reproduction' was 'not bad.'
If you link to the game, we should be able to click on the blank square and receive a warning that the image may be NSFW and choose to view it anyway. ps What does MPAA stand for?
My drawing was 'flagged' and 'deleted' before the 'game finished.' MPAA stands for 'The Motion Picture Association of America'
The game quite clearly states that you should be producing safe-for-work PG-13 material at worst.
If you ignore that, it's your problem if your panel gets deleted or flagged.
