Hey there folks,
I've been thinking about this for a few days now, have you ever wondered how amazing it could be to organize some games with the top players on this site and see what happens?
I know I'm still just a newbie here, so who I am to start such a project? Well, at the end of the day, we’re all fans of the best artists and writers on this site, I think some kind of all-star game just has to happen sooner or later.
Here's the basic rules and explanations for what I had in mind, I'll try to keep it as short and clear as possible :
‘’So what’s this thing about anyway?’’ The unofficial Drawception All-Star game will feature 6-panels or 12-panels friend games and will consist of two teams or more (depending on how many players are willing to participate), each starting with the same game title, playing in parallel. Just like in any public Drawception game, the players will NOT know who they are playing with, in which order they are playing and cannot see the previous panels. When the games are finished, I will post the results in a link on this forum, the viewers will then be able to vote for which team has done the best job, and the winning team will earn eternal fortune and fame.
‘’Ok, so who’s elligible?’’ Anyone who is at least level 50 is invited to participate, artists should have at least one drawing with 100+ likes.
‘’So I want to play this NOW! How?’’ Simply write an e-mail to ‘’drawceptionallstar@gmail.com’’ with your game name and the role you wanna play (artist, writer, or either one). As soon as we have enough people interested, I will start the games.
‘’Wait, so how are you gonna make sure this works… as a friend game?’’ After the registration part is done, I’ll randomize the teams and send emails to players in the correct order, with the link to the active game. The current player will then have 24 hours to write or draw his own panel, then I'll send the link to the next player, and so on. If someone does not play and reply within 24 hours, I'll send that link to a substitute player.
‘’I’m not level 50 yet! Is there anything I can do to contribute?’’ Absolutely! First of all, if you have any suggestion for game titles, please send them to ‘’drawceptionall@gmail.com’’ (To keep this a surprise for everyone, I’ll only accept title suggestions from people who don’t wanna play). In fact, I’d love to hear any suggestion. The goal is to make this a fun experience for the whole community, instead of being just a few elitist bastards bragging in a corner.
So anyway, that's the basic idea, what do you think? If you think that the rules are too restrictive or not enough, that it's an awesome idea or a terrible one, by all means, feel welcome to discuss it here.
Me likey this idea.
Sounds like fun! It'll probably be a while until I'm lvl50 though, but I'll get back to it once I'm there. In the meantime, I'd love to see how they turn out :D
I've been here a week, I'm level 11, and I have one drawing with 100+ likes. I feel like organizing a game with similar players, where people OVER level 20 cannot participate.....naw, just kidding.
Next there'll be an addition to the rule "three-star bounty panels don't count" ;)
Nah, jk, good job Jemm! You have some great stuff in your games! :)You'll go through the levels in no time.
I'm too disorganised to remember to do something to timetable, plus I don't play Friday through Sunday, so I would probably hold the game up. Also, not mad keen on needing to use email.
Be interested to see the results of those who are more organised though! :)
*Bats eyelashes at Moku's spelling of 'organiSed'.
Sounds great, don't know how good it'll be without that little n00b touch every game benefits from.
Drawception in 'British person spells in British English shock'!
Hm... looks like I'd be eligible. I'm dubious whether I could be considered an all-star, though. :P Compared to some of the artists on this site...
Oh well, I will probably send the mail. I have quite a bit of time on my hands anyway.
Wait, why level 50? What if some1's new to DC and has a few 100+ panels? Or someone in level 40, for instance...
@lfaat You're right, level 50 seems to be too restrictive, level 40 would be a better threshold (it's a shame I can't edit the original post). The idea is to focus on the veteran players, but then again, there's new players that are extremely talented. No criteria can be perfect, but the last thing I wanna do is to start evaluating people to see who qualifies.
@VIVIT_rv00, Please do! Even if you're not sure you wanna draw (and I think you should), you can play as a writer if you prefer.
@AdvancePlays I totally agree, most of my favorite games consists of just silly drawings and the misinterpretation they cause. But then again, even the most detailled picture can cause misinterpretation (and that's where good writers can also really shine), so this whole thing has potential I think.
@Moku Unfortunately, until this site has any PM system, e-mail is the only way to do this in private, because I don't wanna post links to active games on the forum and risk being trolled. By all means, you should give it a try, it only takes 10 minutes to draw one picture, as long as you check your e-mails every day that's really all it takes.
@DonnaAnna Please, your stuff is top notch, if you don't qualify as an all-star then I wonder who does. You should participate, that's really all I can say!
Send game name to participate or any game title suggestion to : drawceptionallstar@gmail.com
@le pape, thanks for saying that! I have to say I kind of liked the idea of the 'all stars' games being something you have to work for, really, to be able to participate. There are about a handful of 50+ players, but a LOT more 40+ players. Then again, a lot of people don't play so "seriously", trying to get to the higher levels... Well! XD
I'll think about it! I'd love to participate.
Btw just as a general information, I wasnt too specific about this but this will be played just like any Drawception game, using this site.
The only thing is that the games will be created as a ''friend game'' instead of as a ''public game''.
Now if I post the link to play the games here, then anyone will be able to click and play (which kinda ruins the whole ''all star'' concept), so that's why I'd rather send the link to individual players by email.
So don't hesitate and play, even those who don't wanna draw! 10 minutes maximum, that's the only time investment this requires.
drawceptionallstar@gmail.com
This will start as soon as I have 13 players.
le pape - do you have Skype? Or could Facebook IMs be another way to manage this? I'm finding I use email less and less as time goes on... too filled up with spam at this point, and most of my direct RL contacts have better ways to contact me. (Not sure given some of the revisions whether or not I'd qualify to join in any case -- 3 game @ 100+, but all are there due to bounties).
I'd like to try to keep it as simple as possible to manage, but what the hell, I could use Twitter too if that can help. No Facebook or Skype though, unfortunately.
''@le_pape_'' on Twitter
Thanks for the invite, le pape
I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Might not be as amazing as it sounds, but it's worth a little effort to find out.
This sounds pretty fun. I don't think I would want to participate right away. I would rather see how this turns out.
We still need more people, especially writers!
Also, even if you don't wanna participate, I'll gladly accept any suggestion for game titles that can be used.
It sounds interesting. I however cannot guarantee that I would be able to draw a prompt in a timely fashion with my current schedule and would not want to hold up the game.
