Do descriptions really need 10 minutes?

Simply suggestion - the game suffers from games taking a long time to complete, which is going to be largely because people use up their 10 minute time span whilst busy getting a cup of tea or somesuch...now I don't know about you other kindly folks in Drawception land but descriptions never take me 10 minutes.

I'd suggest the time limit for descriptions be reduced from 10 minutes to 2-3 minutes or so; that should see the rate at which games complete increase on average.

Very few descriptions ever get near the 10 minute limit. None of the length games take to complete will have anything to do with that.

I often click play, decide not to when I see the prompt, which includes the description prompts, and then leave to do something else, leaving the game on hold for 10 minutes.

If I do it you can bet your life plenty of people do it. It's therefore self-evident that educing the time limit for descriptions would remedy this problem for descriptions and would speed up the game completion rates; I can't see how that can be argued against.

There's a button that says "Exit" on the top next to Skip and Skip + Report. You can release the game back in queue with that button, without holding up the game for others to play.

Aside from that, there are a few times when someone could use up those ten minutes on just a description. Maybe someone wanted to become a little bit more witty than they should, and is looking up the right words just just to get the punchline out. Should it take that long? Who knows.

I am with Kagura on this one. I feel both drawing and description prompts need to stay 10 minutes both for consistency, you know?

Plus, one of my descriptions (http://drawception.com/viewgame/fwWR1TCrDs/the-banana-king/) took me almost the entire 10 minutes just to get it right. I had trouble just trying to stay within the 40 character limit, and yet I found the perfect description for it. It was a bonus to get the last panel in that game too, so it worked out brilliantly.

As someone who's English is not his native language, I sometimes want check my spelling or maybe look for a better translation to a word than the first thing that came to mind. Also though my English is (I think) very good and I do have a rich vocabulary, some people may not and need more time. Another situation where it may take some time for a description is when I'm not sure if the drawing referencing some pop culture thing and I search Google images to be sure..

Jigor: Agree. For instance, I search if some phrase can be used. Also, once I got to describe a picture with a Pokemon but since I know only some basic ones, I had to google his name (there was a Pokeball and it was something similar to bat but it wasn't bat, that's how I knew it was Pokemon). However, if there's some character I don't know at all, I simply skip such panel.

Five Minutes Would Be More Than Enough for A Drawception Description. FIFTEEN would be nice for actual Drawings. Several, Several of my drawings could be better (even though I'm not talented). Still I've needed more time to get a drawing right and it sucked to have to "submit" an unfinished or un-detailed drawing.

I don't see a reason to reduce the time limit for descriptions. If you don't take that long to submit descriptions, then the limit doesn't really affect you. If you are more digilent and like to search things up when you type a description, then the time limit helps you. I don't see a lose situation here.

I doubt the extra minutes shaved off from descriptions would be a limiting factor in how quickly a game finishes. At least, I think shortening the limit would give more cons than pros.

I am picturing a slow, two-finger typist desperately trying to type his meticulously-thought description with less than ten seconds winding down on the clock. For the last nine minutes, he's been tirelessly searching Google and online dictionaries for examples of words to use. As time winds down, he's determined to use every second to fill in every possible piece of punctuation...

I don't see a reason for 10 minutes for descriptions, but I don't see a compelling reason to take it away, especially with the Exit button now.
